1. About these terms

These terms apply to the VeraDerm app and website, which are provided by Teejay Swain, trading as Swain Labs, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom ("we", "us"). By using VeraDerm you agree to these terms. Please also read our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your data.

2. Who can use VeraDerm

You must be at least 16 years old to use VeraDerm.

3. VeraDerm is not medical advice

Ratings come from laboratory testing that may not reflect how a product behaves on your skin. Most cosmetic ingredients have never been tested. A product with no flagged ingredients can still cause a reaction, and a flagged ingredient may be fine for you. If you have a skin condition, a reaction, or are taking prescribed treatment, speak to a healthcare professional.

Ingredient lists read from photos, entered by users, or taken from Open Beauty Facts may contain errors. Always check the label on the product itself.

4. AI features

Premium AI features use artificial intelligence to explain the findings VeraDerm has already worked out. AI responses can be incomplete or wrong, and they are not medical advice. Do not rely on them for decisions about your health.

5. Your account

Some features need an account. Give accurate details, keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens under your account. You can delete your account at any time from Profile in the app.

6. Premium subscriptions

• Premium is an auto-renewing subscription, sold monthly or yearly. In the UK it costs £3.99 a month or £24.99 a year. Prices in other countries are shown in the app before you buy.
• Payment is taken by the Apple App Store or Google Play when you confirm your purchase, and their terms apply to it.
• Your subscription renews automatically at the same price unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You are charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings. If you cancel, Premium stays active until the end of the period you have paid for.
• Deleting your VeraDerm account or the app does not cancel your subscription. Cancel it with Apple or Google as well.
• Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their refund policies.
• Premium currently includes 200 cloud label scans and 10 AI credits each calendar month. One AI credit buys one routine review with follow-up questions, or one conversation about a product. When the questions included with a conversation run out, you can spend another credit to continue it. Unused scans and credits do not carry over.
• If we change the price, Apple or Google will tell you before it applies, and you can cancel before then.

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

7. Product submissions

You can add or confirm the ingredients of a product so that others can see them. Only submit information that you believe is accurate. By submitting it, you give us a free, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to store it, show it to other users and use it to improve VeraDerm. Your name and account details are not shown alongside it.

Some product information comes from Open Beauty Facts and is used under the Open Database Licence, with photos under CC BY-SA.

8. Acceptable use

Do not:

• submit false or misleading product information;
• use automated tools to access VeraDerm, or collect data from it in bulk;
• try to get around usage limits or security measures;
• interfere with the service, or use it for anything unlawful.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

9. Changes to VeraDerm

We are always improving VeraDerm and may change or remove features. If a change significantly reduces what a paid Premium subscription includes, we will tell you in advance so you can cancel.

10. Our responsibility to you

We provide VeraDerm with reasonable care and skill. We are responsible for foreseeable loss caused by our breach of these terms or our negligence. We are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable, for business losses, or for decisions you make based on information in the app, given the limits explained in sections 3 and 4.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under the law of England and Wales.

11. Apple App Store

If you downloaded VeraDerm from the Apple App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. Apple is not responsible for VeraDerm or its content.

12. Ending your use

You can stop using VeraDerm and delete your account at any time. We may end these terms if you seriously break them, or if we stop providing VeraDerm, in which case we will give you reasonable notice where we can.

13. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
